Hello and welcome to my new blog. I use my Facebook and Instagram pages to share my work and news but I thought a blog would be a fun alternative! I have never blogged before so please bear with me while I get up to speed.
I have been working away on my Christmas commissions for the last few months now and I can't wait to share the finished pieces with you. The pencils in my Faber-Castell 120 piece set are looking very well used and a few colours in particular have needed to be replaced!
I began working with coloured pencils in July after researching other pet portrait artists and discovering the beautiful detail and finish this medium can create. I absolutely love the layering process and I find I am constantly learning and developing my technique as I commence each picture. I have been working on a diverse collection of canine portraits and each breed has a different type of fur that requires me to use a new technique to capture the intricacies of the hair. And eyes are a wonderful challenge! Having studied other artists it is amazing to see how an entire scene can be captured in the reflection of the subjects eye. I aspire to build upon the detail in my pictures and create life like and characterful portraits. I am looking forward to sharing my Christmas commissions with you after the 25th December!
